If one thing is for certain about 2020, it’s that it’s going to be a weird year for watches. Given the current landscape, many launches for brands such as Patek Philippe, Tudor and Rolex have been postponed until 2021. Thankfully, a few incredible new watches have already been released.
Let’s take a look at 4 of the best new watches 2020 has revealed so far. While we’re certain that many other new watches will be introduced throughout the course of 2020, here are the best of the best as of early 2020.
1: Omega Seamaster Diver 300M 007 Edition
We’ve discussed the Omega Seamaster Diver 300M 007 Edition quite recently and still feel that it is arguably one of the most exciting new watches that has been released in 2020 so far. This addition to the Seamaster collection can be seen in the James Bond film, No Time to Die.
The best—or worst depending on who you ask—part about the OMEGA Seamaster Diver 300M 007 Edition is that it is part of a non-limited series. It’s water resistant up to 30 bars (1000 feet), shock resistant, has a built-in helium escape valve decompression system and has anti-magnetic properties.
It is a slightly slimmer version of the standard 300M Diver and features a brown dial & a titanium mesh bracelet with an adjustable buckle. Inside this beautiful timepiece is the Co-Axial Master Chromometer 8806.
2: Seiko Black Series Limited Editions
Seiko’s new watches released back in February and March can be classed as honorary members of our round-up of best black watches for men. Inspired by the ocean at nighttime, the Seiko Black Series Limited Editions is made up of the SLA035J1, SPB125J1 and the SSC761J1.
The SLA035J1, released in March 2020, is water-resistant up to 300 meters and features the 8L35 movement. It has a black, red & white design with Lumibrite on its hands, bezel & index to ensure it can be ready in the dark depths of the sea. Only 600 have been made.
The SPB125J1 and SSC761J1 were both released in February. The SPB125J1 is an automatic with a 6R35 caliber and features a black & orange color scheme. 7,000 have been made. The SSC761J1 features a solar movement and a V192 caliber & has a black, red & orange color scheme. Only 3,500 have been made. Both new watches are water-resistant up to 200 meters and feature Lumibrite on its hands & indexes.
3: Vacheron Constantin Égérie Moon Phase Jewelry
If you ever wondered what a watch with more than 1,300 diamonds would look like, look no further than the Égérie Moon Phase Jewelry from Vacheron Constantin. Released in late March, this striking timepiece features 1,345 diamonds and is constructed from 18k white gold. It is a non-limited edition and is just one of Vacheron Constantin’s many, many diamond watches.
The Égérie Moon Phase Jewelry features a 1088L caliber and is an automatic watch. It is water-resistant up to 30 meters and its design consists of:
- A 246-diamond adorned 18k white gold case
- An 18k white gold dial set with 510 diamonds
- 18k white gold bracelet that is covered in diamonds
We’ll be the first to admit that this watch is far more pretty than it is practical, but we do admire Vacheron Constantin’s effort to attract more female customers while proudly showing off their phenomenal craftsmanship.
4: Hublot Big Bang MP-11 Red Magic
Released in January, this beautiful bad boy is the latest addition to the Hublot Big Bang Collection. The Hublot Big Bang MP-11 Red Magic is a striking timepiece of which there are only 100 pieces available.
It features a HUB9011 caliber and has a 14-day power reserve. The MP-11 Red Magic has a polished red titanium case, a sapphire crystal dial, and a textured black rubber strap. It is water-resistant up to 30 meters and reminds fans of a Ferrari engine.
It is one of the best and most beautiful high-tech ceramic watches. Partly because most ceramic watches are black or white in color while this daring design is a bold red one.
And there you have it: the four watches released in 2020 you should know about. And there are many new watches you should keep watch for including the Chanel J12 X-Ray and the TAG Heuer Carrera 160 Years Silver Limited Edition.
Whether you simply want to keep up to date with recent watch releases and news or are updating your wish list to include the latest models on the market is up to you.
What do you think about these watches? Were they worth the wait or will you be watching to see what else 2020 brings with it?
