There are over 10 models in the current Skagen Holst collection, ranging from chronographs to quartz pieces. These Danish-inspired watches are all priced at under $250. Here are some available in the market right now.

The Skagen Holst Chronograph Black is presented in a 42mm case and mesh bracelet made of stainless steel. Following a dark iridescent pattern, its Mother-of-Pearl dial includes luminescent hands and indexes along with a chronograph feature. Meanwhile, the three counters are for seconds, minutes, and hour stopwatches. In terms of technical details, this piece follows a quartz chronograph movement with a 30-meter water resistance. Not too fancy or too plain, this is the perfect in-between option for all minimalists out there. Best part is it retails for only $155 USD.

The Skagen Holst Automatic comes in a 42mm stainless steel case and bracelet. It has a grey dial with a skeleton display, slim Roman numerals, and stick indexes. The exposed mechanical inner-workings is what draw people most to the dial area. Moreover, it follows an automatic movement and has a water resistance of up to 30 meters. Aside from the interchangeable straps, a free engraving option is also available. Priced at $215 USD, this skeletal Skagen Holst watch would make a great, timeless companion.

Next up, the Skagen Holst Multifunction watch has a 40mm stainless steel case and mesh bracelet. Its dark grey dial, following a sunray pattern, consists of six indexes, luminescent hands, and day/date counters. Traditionally, most day/date watches follow a window-display so the two subdials featured here are quite different. Lastly, this model follows a quartz movement with a 50-meter water resistance. Retailing for $199 USD, this is the ideal option for those who want multifunctional, sleek timepieces.

The Skagen Holst Automatic Silver comes in a 42mm stainless steel case and bracelet. Its dial has different textures with the inner following a guilloche pattern. It also has slim Roman numerals, stick indexes, and an open-heart display. The goal with this watch was to showcase masterful engineering with polished design elements. Lastly, this automatic timepiece has a water resistance of up to 30 meters and retails for around $185 USD.

Lastly, the Skagen Holst Brown Multifunction watch is presented in a 40mm stainless steel case paired with a leather bracelet. Its sunray patterned dial in gunmetal includes stick indexes, luminescent hands, and day/date counters. Powered by a multifunction movement, this model boasts a water resistance of up to 50 meters. It makes for a stylish and sleek timepiece at only $155 USD.

History Behind the Skagen Holst Collection

Skagen was founded back in 1989 by Danish couple, Henrik and Charlotte Jorst. A couple of years prior to establishing their own business, the Jorsts moved to the United States from Denmark due to Henrik’s work relocation. Within their first 5 years in a new country, they were able to build a company and create watch designs of their own. Skagen eventually became one of the fastest-growing businesses listed as an American company and, come 2012, they were eventually purchased by Fossil, Inc.

Drawing on their Danish roots, the couple chose to focus on Nordic themes and elements for their brand. The word Skagen is based on a fishing city in Denmark with the same name. In addition, their logo represents the bodies of water, Skagerrak and Kattegat, that meet at the said place. However, the Scandinavian influence does not stop there.

Skagen timepieces are known for its beautiful incorporation of minimalism in the entire process of watchmaking. Designing with intent is what the brand upholds. This means that every detail, from the concept to the packaging, was thoughtfully crafted with the idea of longevity and sustainability in mind.

The aforementioned intent is clearly seen in the Skagen Holst range. This versatile collection boasts both style and comfort. With elements like slim cases, simple dials, and interchangeable straps; the Holst immediately became a favorite among patrons and casual buyers alike.

5 Reasons to Buy a Skagen Holst Watch

1. Simple, minimalist designs

Traditional style is something abundant in the watchmaking world. Many of the big, established brands known today draw on their experiences and heritage to create quintessential pieces. Skagen does the same by creating products that are a reflection of their Danish roots. However, what sets them apart is their conscious decision to go with minimalism rather than tradition. This is because Skagen Holst watches are meant to match everyone’s personality and lifestyle. Using minimalist stylistic elements allow for more versatility, perfect for those who want less traditional (but still simple) watches.

2. Sustainable options

Skagen is a brand with ideals and principles. They are committed to making a change by utilizing earth-friendly methods in order to minimize their carbon footprint. The Skagen Holst collection, for example, consists of watches made out of more sustainable materials. The best thing is that they also want to influence other companies in the same industry to lean towards eco-friendly ways as well. With Skagen, you’ll get a beautifully-crafted watch whilst knowing it made less of a negative impact on the environment.

3. Affordable

While it is not considered a luxury brand, most people would expect higher prices for minimalist and sustainable watches. However, pieces from the Holst line are all under $300, making it really affordable. Rest assured that these prices are not a reflection of their quality. In fact, it serves as proof that you don’t have to spend thousands of dollars for a good watch.

4. Nordic roots

In the world of horology, Swiss and Japanese watches are the most popular options. Having a timepiece that is so obviously inspired by Scandinavian heritage would be considered as unique. While that may be enough of a reason for some, Skagen’s Nordic roots are the very essence of the brand. The aforementioned minimalist style and focus on sustainability are all because this brand is heavily inspired by the Danish lifestyle. It is almost like you’ll be able to wear a piece of Denmark on you when you have a Skagen Holst watch.

5. Versatile

This is the very reason why the Skagen Holst is a perfect option for those who don’t really know what type of watch they want. With this timepiece, you get the best of both worlds. Whether you aim to use it everyday or during your own wedding, the Skagen Holst will surely mold well with whatever you’re wearing.

Skagen Holst: Reflection of Nordic Heritage

While minimalism and sustainability are the main aspects of the collection, it doesn’t change the fact that these watches also offer functionality and longevity. With the Skagen Holst, you don’t only get a uniquely designed timepiece but also one with a purpose (essentially and technically). This line is a great representation of Danish craftsmanship in the watchmaking world.
