In 2017, Italian brands Maserati and Bulgari collaborated to create the Bulgari Octo Maserati GranSport and the GranLusso. The GranSport model, priced at $12,800, has a more futuristic, automotive vibe, while the GranLusso is a more classic option. The Octo Maserati GranLusso comes in a 41.5mm rose gold case with a brown leather strap and costs about $30,700 USD. The black dial, obviously based on a Maserati RPM meter, features rose gold hour numbers, the Maserati logo, and a date component. Bulgari Octo: The Record-Breaking Rebel

Ever wonder why the Bulgari Octo collection is so iconic? Well, simply put, this series is Bulgari’s very own record breaker. Over the past couple of years, the Octo managed to catch the attention of the public, watch enthusiasts, and horology experts when it started bagging awards and breaking records left and right.

The first one came two years after its launch in the form of the Bulgari Octo Finissimo Tourbillon Manual. This masterful timepiece housed the iconic BVL 268 caliber, boasting a thickness of only 1.95mm and making it the world’s slimmest flying Tourbillon. The second record was achieved in 2016 with the Bulgari Octo Finissimo Minute Repeater. It came in a titanium case featuring a skeletonized dial with an ultra-thin movement at 3.12mm. The third and fourth world records happened consecutively with the Bulgari Octo Finissimo Automatic in 2017 and the Octo Finissimo Tourbillon Automatic in 2018. The 2017 Octo Finissimo features a BVL 138 automatic movement known to be the world’s thinnest self-winding watch with a depth of only 5.15mm. Shortly after, the 2018 Octo Finissimo Tourbillon was released with a BVL 288 automatic tourbillon caliber and an impressive thickness of only 3.95mm which brought the Octo collection’s world records to four. 

The release of the Octo Finissimo Chronograph GMT Automatic in 2019 brought the fifth world record for the collection. The watch ran on a BVL 318 automatic chronograph caliber with a 3.3mm depth, making it the world’s thinnest chronograph movement. Meanwhile, the most recent record achieved occurred in 2020 with the launch of the Octo Finissimo Tourbillon Chronograph. This piece featured an ultra-thin skeleton movement, a chronograph, and a Tourbillon with a BVL 388 calibre at 3.50mm. This utterly complex and iconic model is Bulgari’s 6th and latest world record with the Octo collection.
